Heidelberg Instruments Receives Repeat Order from Leading Asian Display Photomask Manufacturer for its VPG+ 1400 FPD System

VPG+ 1400 FPD

Heidelberg, Germany — Heidelberg Instruments is excited to announce a follow-up order from a leading Asian manufacturer of display photomasks for its flagship VPG⁺ 1400 FPD Volume Pattern Generator system. The new order confirms strong customer trust in the performance and reliability of the VPG⁺ platform, which has been widely used in the flat panel display industry for many years.

“This repeat order is a powerful validation of what the VPG⁺ 1400 platform delivers in high-volume production—exceptional precision, reliability, and uptime that our customers depend on day after day. It reflects the deep trust we have built with our partners in Asia over many years and reinforces our commitment to driving innovation and long-term value in the flat panel display industry,” states Alexander Forozan, VP of Global Sales and Business Development at Heidelberg Instruments.

The order also underscores strong customer satisfaction and successful long-term collaboration with regional partners. Delivery of the system is scheduled for the first half of 2027.

The VPG⁺ 1400 FPD system, which supports mask sizes up to 1400 × 1400 mm², is ideally suited for display generations from G5 to G8. It delivers excellent exposure accuracy, high process stability, and a robust architecture designed for maximum uptime—critical factors for modern photomask production in high-resolution display technologies. Equipped with advanced metrology and sophisticated alignment capabilities—including Cognex AI-based image recognition—the system ensures precise alignment of multilayer masks. Linear and nonlinear coordinate compensation further enhance overlay accuracy across different tools.

The VPG⁺ 1400 FPD and VPG⁺ 1850 FPD Volume Pattern Generators were specifically engineered for large-area photomask structuring in the flat panel display industry. The latter is based on the proven VPG⁺ 1400 platform and designed for large-format photomask applications beyond G8. It supports mask sizes up to 1400 × 1850 mm².

The VPG⁺ FPD system family sets new standards in high-throughput photomask production and provides the precision and scalability required for large display formats. In addition, the systems deliver the pattern fidelity needed to manufacture large-area halftone photomasks for flat panel displays.
