The close of 2024 marked a unique chapter in Heidelberg Instruments’ history. For the first time in our 40 years, we celebrated Christmas aboard a ship on the Neckar River! The festive gathering was a resounding success, filled with camaraderie and seasonal cheer. However, there was one notable difference this year: instead of the traditional Christmas gifts for the employees, our Management made the thoughtful decision to direct those funds toward a meaningful cause.
This decision stemmed from the desire to provide tangible support within our local community. After careful consideration, the Management chose to contribute to the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung’s (RNZ, local newspaper) Christmas fundraiser.
For years, the RNZ has organized this fundraiser to support individuals in need across our region. What makes this initiative truly special is its direct impact. With the help of social security offices in Heidelberg and the Rhine-Neckar District, along with major charitable organizations, donations are distributed without incurring administrative costs. These contributions help fund essential aids and appliances to ease daily life or bring small but meaningful joys to children during the holiday season.
Shortly before Christmas, an editor from the RNZ visited the Heidelberg Instruments headquarter in Wieblingen to formally accept our donation of €10,000. This moment was captured in a photograph and featured in the RNZ on December 27, accompanied by an article under the headline “Dem edlen Namen ein Stück weit verpflichtet” (loosely translated as “Obliged to the noble name to some extent”).
At Heidelberg Instruments, we believe in making a positive difference, not just through our technology but also through meaningful contributions to the communities that surround us.
